Course description
This course recognizes the diversity that exists among students who study mathematics and French language Arts. It is based on the belief that all students can learn mathematics and FLA and deserve the opportunity to do so. Also, it recognizes different learning styles and sets expectations that call for the use of a variety of instructional and assessment tools and strategies.
The course is designed to help students build the solid conceptual foundation in mathematics and FLA that will enable them to apply their knowledge and further their learning successfully. This course will help students to be ready for secondary. |

What are the requirements?
Before starting this course, students need to know that this course is based on the belief that they learn mathematics and FLA most effectively when they are given opportunities to investigate ideas and concepts through problem solving and are then guided carefully into an understanding of the mathematical principles involved.

- Develop, select, apply, and compare a variety of problem-solving strategies as they pose and solve problems and conduct investigations, to help deepen their mathematical understanding
- Make connections among mathematical concepts and procedures, and relate mathematical ideas to situations or phenomena drawn from other contexts
- Communicate mathematical thinking orally, visually, and in writing, using mathematical vocabulary and a variety of appropriate representations, and observing mathematical conventions
